Cronulla, derived from an Aboriginal word kurranulla meaning 'place of pink seashells', is located on the Bate Bay coastline in Sydney's south. Local icons Cronulla RSL and their showpiece function destination Soldiers on the Esplanade, have formed a union with Cronulla Surf Club to cater for events of all kinds, be they small and intimate or large and extravagant. These two historical entities are delighted to announce their new partnership, Esplanade Events. 

On the 22 February 1944, the Cronulla RSL Sub-Branch Members resolved unanimously to form a “Soliders Club.” The original building at 38 Gerrale Street, overlooking Bate Bay opened in 1953.

Fast forward to today, Cronulla RSL features several beautifully appointed event spaces, and is also home to Soldiers on the Esplanade, which is a showcase of stunning function venues, while Cronulla Surf Club has recently undergone a renovation and now boasts state of the art facilities with an absolute beachfront location.

Founded in 1907, the Cronulla Surf Club is one of the longest serving surf lifesaving bodies in Australia. The Cronulla Surf Club is situated in a magnificent art deco building on the beachfront that was built in 1940.
